Due Diligence Assessment

Existing and/or historical land uses have the potential to cause contamination of soil and groundwater resources and generate harmful ground gases.  Environmental Due Diligence is undertaken to examine potential liabilities associated with a land holding or property as a result of soil or groundwater contamination and their wider potential impacts.  Causeway Geotech Ltd offer expert assessment of environmental conditions which allow related risks to be quantified and opportunities to be identified, thereby enabling informed decision making on the potential viability of a site.

Contaminated Land Assessment

Land contamination can create significant hurdles to future site development, particularly on brownfield sites.  Assessing the potential risk to human health and the environment from existing and future site use is critical in informing potential investment and development opportunities of such sites.

Causeway Geotech Ltd have the capability to provide a range of contaminated land assessments and advise on workable remedial solutions to enable the development of contaminated sites.  Expertise includes:

• Tier 3: Detailed Quantitative Risk Assessment (DQRA)

Given our expertise in ground investigation we provide the full range of soil services, including intrusive investigation work, groundwater monitoring and sampling and ground gas monitoring services.

Waste Classification

Should material such as potentially contaminated soil be considered for disposal off site, a waste classification is needed to determine the most appropriate way to manage waste materials and assess what level of risk the waste presents and to ensure that any parties receiving it are permitted to do so.

For soils arising from contaminated or potentially contaminated sites, waste classification is complete through a two-stage process. Firstly the soil is subject to appropriate laboratory analysis and the data is used to classify the material as either hazardous or non-hazardous waste based on the relevant List of Waste (LoW) Code,.  Once the classification has been determined, Waste Acceptance Criteria (WAC) Testing may be required to determine an appropriate disposal route should the soil be intended to be disposed of to landfill.
